The McGregor EDC is a Texas Type B Economic Development Corporation that is funded by a ½ penny sales tax. This money may be used for any project eligible under Type A rules and several other project types, including quality of life improvements. Type B corporations may pay for land, buildings, equipment, facilities, targeted infrastructure and improvements for professional and amateur sports and athletic facilities, tourism and entertainment facilities, convention facilities and public parks; related store, restaurant, concession, parking and transportation facilities; related street, water and sewer facilities; and affordable housing.
Every community seeks out job creators; companies willing to invest and develop primary and secondary job opportunities. Because of the McGregor Economic Development Corporation, investments in these job creators is possible. As a type B Corporation, the MEDC may provide funds to businesses and industries for the following: public safety facilities; recycling facilities; streets, roads, drainage and related improvements; demolition of existing structures; general municipally owned improvements; and maintenance and operating costs associated with projects.

One might ask “Why would business come to McGregor?”. As we view our strengths, we recognize that any community our size might be less attractive than the larger towns if they decided to market themselves as an individual community. What we view as one of our greatest strengths is the fact that we understand the importance of engaging in regional partnerships and collaborations.
We believe that working with communities like Waco, Temple, Killeen, Hewitt, Robinson, Lorena and others brings us to a much larger table to be able to market what we have to offer.
